BFC Microsoccer

BFC Micro Soccer offers the convenience of local, low cost soccer that won't dominate the calendar. Micro Soccer is the perfect soccer program for boys and girls ages 4-6 to learn individual skills and team play. Kids will be placed on teams that will compete in a Saturday morning game led by parent coaches who will be supported by BFC staff. Our Micro Soccer games will follow a 2 vs 2 format. There are a number of benefits to playing with smaller numbers at this age. Smaller numbers removes the chaos of "beehive" or "bunchball" soccer which allows kids to have more time with the ball. This simplified environment facilitates growth for individual skill as well as decision making on when to pass, dribble or shoot.

Midweek training will be led by our professional staff who will introduce basic soccer skills in a fun, low pressure environment.  All the Micro Soccer players will train together in the midweek session.

Invite a friend and share with us your buddy requests to be placed on the same team!

* Parents are encouraged to volunteer as game day coaches (no soccer experience required!)

Fall Micros

Fall Micro Soccer offers an optional training on Tuesdays led by our paid trainers as well as a team game on Saturdays led by volunteer parent coaches (this could be you!). The format for Saturdays begins with a 15 minute game day curriculum provided by BFC and delivered by parent volunteer coaches.

This is a great opportunity to participate in your child's discovery of their love for the game! We finish the Saturday session by playing a game against another Micro Soccer team which allows the kids to put their new learning on display for all their adoring fans :)

Spring Micros

The spring Micro Soccer program serves as the connection point between seasons, to refresh the players after their break from the fall season, and introduce new players into the training methods of the Micro Soccer program. A training-only program, this provides players the opportunity to enter the sport in a low-competition environment, based entirely around enjoyment and discovery of soccer.

Training + Game Day

Training

Training sessions which are led by our Head of Micro and paid coaches take snapshots of the development pillars, and provide a fun and exciting opportunity for young players to explore and learn more skills. Players will find a fun and supportive environment focused on teaching them foundational skills and helping them to discover their relationship to the game.

Game Day  (Fall Only)

Games are played in 2v2 formats. This is built off the Belgian model of player development, placing the main focus on enjoyment and to allow players huge involvement and touches, and avoid the messy "beehive" which can form with greater numbers of players. Prioritizing 2-player relationships so players can discover their individual understanding of the game along with how to work collaboratively with a partner, players will be encouraged and free to be active participants in games in a setting which allows them total exploration.

Philosophy

The Micro Soccer philosophy is built on the principle of teaching players to be familiar and comfortable with the ball at their feet, and aiding them in being excited participants in trainings and games. We encourage technical discovery through enjoyment and social connections to ensure a deep-rooted connection to the game and their community.

The learning which takes place in Micro Soccer will provide the foundation for players to progress into future BFC and EYSA-associated programs, the first steps being into our BFC Juniors program.
